Humble House: A Blend of Simplicity and Elegance

Designer Tony Hsu's Award-Winning Residence Reflects East Asian Aesthetics

The inspiration behind Humble House stems from the homeowners' desire for a quiet home that mirrors the oriental qualities of their Asian and Taiwanese roots. The design encapsulates the essence of East Asian houses, with their simple textures and elegant elements, creating a culturally integrated atmosphere in every detail of the space.

Humble House stands out for its unique properties. The design is rooted in the concept of East Asian Literature, which has long been associated with humility and kindness towards people. This attitude is reflected in the home's open spatial layout, which facilitates clear and direct communication. The walls' texture is showcased through simple and mellow materials, adding an oriental scholar style and taste to the home's details.

The realization of this design involved the use of various materials such as marble, veneer, special paint, metal, and wallpaper. The residence, a single flat accommodation, spans a total size of 235 square meters. The design project, located at No. 1, Lane 411, Section 411, Hu Road, Neihu District 11442 Taipei City, Taiwan, took place from November 2016 to February 2018.

Chief Creative Director Ta Hsu and Designer Sydney Lin were key members of the design team. Their efforts resulted in a space that blends simplicity and elegant elements of East Asian design, providing a feeling of home for the business resident who frequently travels outside of Asia.

Humble House has received prestigious recognition for its design excellence. It was awarded Silver in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This accolade is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. Admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, these designs introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
